The Coming of the Man-Thing! Yep, you read that right. Just don't think about it too much. This episode we explore the origin of the Man-Thing from Savage Tales #1. Its an adult-oriented take on the swamp-based monster. Its got it all: semi-naked women, scientists with questionable ethics and of course random injections with untested [...]
Okay, so here it is the not-quite first episode. Yes, I have chosen to do an Episode 0. I know there are some out there who feel that zero episodes (or zero issues) are not really necessary and a bit of a waste of time. Well, I'm pretty new to this whole podcast thing so I figured I should do a little introductory ramble to get started. But don't fear - it's short.
Well it is finally here. I have been threatening this podcast for about a year and now I have finally gone and done it. The Nexus Of All Realities: A Man-Thing Podcast will launch August 1st.
So the big reveal from last week's Captain America: Steve Rogers first issue is that Captain America - Sentinel of Liberty and all around nice guy - is actually a Nazi. Okay, not a Nazi exactly - a Hydra sleeper agent. But Hydra, no matter how many times its been retconned over the years, has [...]
This is easily my most anticipated comic of the year. When it was announced last year that Black Panther would relaunch as a solo tile with Ta-Nehisi Coates as the writer, well, my interest was piqued to say the least. Ta-Nehisi Coates' articles in The Atlantic have been must reads for me for quite a [...]
So everyone knows Captain America: Winter Soldier was the greatest super hero film ever made. And by everyone I mean me staring at myself in the mirror saying, "Man, Captain America: Winter Soldier was the best super hero movie ever made. Yes, better than the Avengers, stop saying that - why are you arguing with [...]
Captain America is a great character when done right. In the hands of a writer that understands the character, Cap is a symbol of honor and courage and leadership. And, him being a walking flag and all, he can be used as a way to start discussions on the political climate of the day. Problem [...]
Scarlet Witch is the third of the ever-more-impressive titles coming from Marvel's All-New, All-Different launch I'll be following, and is a character that has been long overdue for a solo title. But she is a character that, like Vision, has always worked well in a supporting role but has been problematic when attempting to star [...]
Doctor Strange by Jason Aaron and Chris Bachalo is the second of the monthly titles I have been following in the All-New, All-Different, post-Secret-Wars era of Marvel. And to be honest I assumed I would pick up the first two or three issues and drop it. An ongoing solo title for the good Doctor didn't [...]
Something I haven't done in a long time is read a comic on a monthly basis. There are several reasons for this. One reason is the expanded storytelling of modern comics. When I was growing up comic book stories used to be a one-and-done narrative. Occasionally you'd get the two or three-parter but for the [...]
